An exquisite Antique Scottish brooch from the mid Victorian era adorned with a wonderful 10ct (approx.) Smoky Quartz claw set in the centre with four Cabochon Amethysts and little pyramid shaped Carnelians and Jasper stones.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
The piece is fashioned in 18ct Yellow Gold and displays fine engraving and a kite mark on the reverse which has faded over time but indicates the piece was made in 1868.
